Il monumentale organo della Pieve di Monte San Savino è quello che possiede più documentazione: le prime notizie risalgono al 1503, anche se i lavori di costruzione iniziarono nel 1506 e durarono per ben sette anni. Lo strumento fu realizzato da Giovanni Piffero, maestro senese, ed aveva una composizione fonica prettamente rinascimentale, caratterizzata dal classico ripieno e dal solo Flauto probabilmente in XV. Intorno alla prima metà del seicento lo strumento acquista la struttura attuale. Splendida è la cassa riccamente intagliata e sagomata, la mostra è a cinque campate di canne divise da lesene intagliate con motivi floreali e sostenute da legature intagliate con teste di putti. Recentemente ( 1966) sono stati compiuti lavori di restauro per riportare l’organo al suo antico splendore.

The monumental organ of the Parish Church in Monte San Savino is that one which has most of documents: the first information about it date back to 1503, even if the building works started in 1506 and they lasted for seven years. The instrument was built by Giovanni Piffero, a master of Siena, and it has a sound composition which dates back to the Renaissance, characterised by the classic “ripieno” and by the sole flute probably in XV. In the first half of the XVII century the instrument acquires the present structure. The carved and finely-shaped case is very beautiful, the face is characterised by five spans made of pipes divided into carved and flowered pilaster strips supported by ligatures carved with putti’s heads. Recently (1966) many repairs have been done in order to get the organ to its ancient splendour.
